Nimbus by Jan Eldredge

Review:

Nimbus the kitten had a tough start in life, but her fortunes changed the day she met her human boy, Fletcher. But when a nightmare demon is unleashed in Fletcher’s home, Nimbus gets the blame and is banished by Fletcher’s aunt. She meets a theatre-loving rat and a kindly witch named Agatha and discovers that her encounter with the demon has given her magical powers!

To return to her beloved Fletcher, Nimbus must harness her special powers with the help of her new friends. And learn that she is braver and luckier than she ever imagined…

Nimbus is a fabulous middle-grade spooky thriller which will be perfect for an autumnal/Halloween read. From the very start this story is action-packed and full of adventure, fantasy and magic that will bewitch the reader who are going to fall in love with Nimbus. She is brave, loyal and many young readers will learn the important things in life from her. Even though this story does have some humour parts, it will also pull on the heart strings covering themes of friendship, sacrifice but also the reality of abandoned pets – this bit got to me!

Perfect for fans of young animals, especially cats and rats, this book will make a fabuous addition to any upper primary school library/classroom.

A huge thank you to publishers, Scholastic, for sending me a copy of Nimbus, to read and review on my blog.

You can buy this fabulous book from all booksellers, online and of course using any independent local bookshop.
