Magicalia: Race of Wonders by Jennifer Bell

Proof Cover

Review:

When her dad is kidnapped by a woman with a giant hamsteroceros, Bitsy and best friend Kosh are swept into a secret world of ancient meteorites and strange beasts called magicores, each conjured using a different emotion. Using a powerful bestiary called Magicalia, the friends must quickly become conjurors themselves, before following a trial of clues that will take them from London to India to Paris, in a race to rescue Bitsy’s dad from a mysterious villain…

Magicalia is a fabulous magical fantasy middle-grade novel full of magical creatures and wonderful and loveable characters and from the very start it is gripping and I was hooked. Full of magic and fun, this fantastic adventure is exciting and I loved embarking on the thrilling quest that I did not want to end. This wonderfully crafted new world is going to be so popular with younger readers and the imagination within the story is brilliant.

Magicalia: Race of Wonders is a perfect book for upper primary libraries and classrooms and is a great match for fans of books by Katie and Kevin Tsang, A.F Steadman and Diana Wynne Jones. I am very excited to see what Jennifer Bell writes next as I for one will be reading it.

I want to say a huge thank you to publishers, Walker Books, for sending me a proof copy of, Magicalia: Race of Wonders, to read and review on my blog as well as the Waterstones website as a bookseller.

You can buy this fabulous book from all booksellers, online and of course using any independent local bookshop.
