I Am Rebel by Ross Montgomery

Proof Copy Front Cover

Review:

‘I’m Tom’s dog and he’s my human. We belong to each other.’ Rebel is a good dog, and he loves his simple, perfect life on the farm with his own Tom – until one day the war comes too close…. Now Tom is determined to join the rebellion to defeat the king’s men. But Rebel knows war is dangerous, and he will stop at nothing to save the human he loves. Rebel must bring Tom home before it’s too late….

Not many books bring me to tears but this had me sobbing. A fabulous heart warming adventure story about the unbreakable bond between a dog and its owner. Told from the perspective of the dog, Rebel, this book has emotion and is so heartfelt I could picture every moment and I was on a rollercoaster of crying, smiling and laughing and this was because of the fabulous writing and language used throughout the story.

I devoured this story as it is fast-paced and being on the quest to join the rebellion with Tom had me wanting to know more and make sure there would be a happy ending in the end…. I am not saying whether there is or not though. What a classic this is going to be, it has everything a middle grade story should have and readers of all ages are going to fall in love with it, just like I did.

I am Rebel is a perfect book for upper primary school libraries and classrooms and for fans of books by E.B White, Phil Earle and Michael Morpurgo.

I want to say a huge thank you to publishers, Walker Books, for sending me a proof copy of, I am Rebel, to read and review on my blog as well as the Waterstones website as a bookseller.

You can buy this fabulous book from all booksellers, online and of course using any independent local bookshop.
